Feather River (fresh water river)
Updated 2014-10-15 22:04:50

Salmon bite continues to be good. Most trollers are using Kwikfish, rather than roe or spinners. Bankies continue to get salmon at Shanhai Bend and the 5th Street Bridge. The bite would be wide open with a little more cool water. There are some bright fish but some are starting to turn. Johnson’s Bait & Tackle (530) 674-1912

Sacramento River (Colusa) (fresh water river)
Updated 2014-10-15 22:05:21

Sacramento River (Red Bluff to Chico) (fresh water river)
Updated 2014-10-15 22:05:54

Fishing for salmon remains excellent from Red Bluff up. Fish are starting to take on some color. Most get limits of salmon weighing 15 to 20 pounds. There are 30 pounders caught daily. Water is too warm in the Chico area for quality fishing. Scott Feist (530) 923-2634, ScottFeist@FeistyFish.net (530) 822-6314

Stripers in the 8 to 10 pound range are being caught on the San Joaquin River near Stockton. Most are 22 to 24 inches. There’s action at Old River, but it’s spotty. Fresh shad is the top bait. H&R Bait & Tackle (209) 463-1938
