Central Valley Rivers
American River (fresh water river) Shad bite has slowed a bit. Fish are spread from Sunrise to Sailor Bay. River is at 2,500 cfs and is very wadeable. Evening bite is best. Bloody Maria and Johnny Winter continue to be the top flies. Kiene’s (916) 486-9958

Sacramento River (Red Bluff to Chico) (fresh water river) Shad bite has slowed through Chico. Big females are being hooked but numbers are dwindling. SFish First (530) 343-8300
Sacramento River (Sacramento) (fresh water river) Striper fishing is decent. A lot of shakers are being caught but an occasional keeper shows up. Channel catfish are starting to bite. Some go to four pounds. Freeport Bait (916) 665-1935
San Joaquin River (fresh water river) A good number of 18 and 20 inch stripers are being hooked up and down the main channel all the way to downtown. Topwater lures are productive through downtown. Catfish bite has slowed. The few being caught are 10 to 12 inches. H&R Bait & Tackle (209) 463-1938
