White sea bass weighing 20 to 40 pounds are being caught north and south of the harbor. Bass are taking live squid. Some have been caught near Martin’s Beach and south of the Ritz-Carlton but bite seems to have moved above Montara. Most are in 30 to 60 feet of water. A 70 pounder was caught in 90 feet of water. There’s a 12-foot great white shark roaming the area. Not a good spot for kayakers

Striped bass bite is very good. Work the Marin islands, Red Rock and the Marin shoreline. A lot are small, but 40% are legal. Work the top of the tide. Drift other times at Brothers. Worm-tailed jigs work well. Halibut bit is fair, at best. Salmon at California City is turning on and off. Loch Lomond Marina (415) 456-0321

Anglers are going right off the head to catch salmon in 80 feet of water. The close to shore bite has been going on since the weekends. Sea lions are an issue.
