Shoreline anglers are getting striper, flounder and occasional sturgeon. Striper are being caught from behind the Richmond Costco all the way into the Delta. Flounder are caught from Eckley Pier in Crockett and underneath the Carquinez Bridge. Flounder are also near Mare Island and the Benicia shoreline. Bay Tackle (510) 235-2032

White sea bass weighing 20 to 40 pounds are being caught north and south of the harbor. Bass are taking live squid. Some have been caught near Martin’s Beach and south of the Ritz-Carlton but bite seems to have moved above Montara. Most are in 30 to 60 feet of water. A 70 pounder was caught in 90 feet of water. There’s a 12-foot great white shark roaming the area. Not a good spot for kayakers

A 34 pound striper was caught near the Benicia Bridge and weighed in at Martinez Bait & Tackle. Striper bite has been good from the pier for bass typically in the 18 to 24 inch range. Sturgeon bite is vigorous but keepers are hard to come by. Lots of shakers. Most of the action is past the fleet near Montezuma Slough. Martinez Bait & Tackle (925) 229-9420

Anglers are going right off the head to catch salmon in 80 feet of water. The close to shore bite has been going on since the weekends. Sea lions are an issue.
