Eureka (salt water river) Boats are getting salmon just north of Trinidad. Six-pack boats get limits when they can get on the water.
Fort Bragg (fresh water open) Wind confounds effort. Last boats got out Saturday and a good score was one salmon per angler/
Iron Gate/Copco (fresh water river) Shore anglers using nightcrawlers or Kastmasters are enjoying trout to 19 inches. (530) 335-2381
Klamath River (Lower) (fresh water river) Spring salmon run is less than expected. Low, warm water makes getting results a challenge.
Klamath River (Middle) (fresh water river) Middle Klamath near Orleans has been fair. Salmon have some color. There are a few steelhead around. Lower River bite has been tough. Guide Mike Stratman (707) 601- 8757
Klamath River (Upper) (fresh water river) Klamath River has steady flows between 1100 and 1200 CFS right now, bite has slowed down and smaller fish now being reported. Some salmon flies hatching, but the fish are not on them yet, look for warmer weather to heat up in the 1st or 2nd week of June. Try bigger nymphs like size 10 princes & size kauffman stones. Also try poxy back hairs ears size 12 and black copper johns size 14. fox poopah size 14 as well as size 12 soft hackles on the Klamath River. Use big size 10 princes or Eng Thing. Mad River (fresh water river) Mad is low. Fish, including chrome wild steelhead, are entering the system but conditions are low and clear. Fresh hatchery fish have been scarce. (707) 826-7201
Redwood Creek (fresh water river) Redwood Creek hasn’t had fish since January. A group of guides fished it recently and all were shutout. (707) 826-7201
Shelter Cove (salt water open) Seahawk Sport Fishing reports very good salmon fishing with kings ranging 12 to 25 pounds. Rock cod action has slowed down due to the giant south swell and the wind. When weather improves anglers will be able to access the northern fishing grounds.
Smith River (fresh water river) Welcome rain fell Tuesday. River is rising and forecasted to go to 11 feet on Wednesday. That should bring more fresh fish into the system and draw a lot back down. Could be a great weekend. Mike Coopman (707) 465-1367, Mike Stratman (707) 601-8757
Trinidad (salt water river) Anglers are going right off the head to catch salmon in 80 feet of water. The close to shore bite has been going on since the weekends. Sea lions are an issue.
