Donner Lake (fresh water lake) Trollers get kokanee are 30 to 50 feet deep near China Cove. Most are in the 11-12 inch size. Mackinaw are below the kokanee but there are large, solitary fish near the bottom. Jigging gives anglers a chance at a 10 pound-plus mack. (530) 587-4844
East Fork Carson (fresh water river) East Fork is on the silty side and is cold. Pressure has been light. Best approach is to use bait or spinners along the edges. Carson Valley Resort (877-694-2229) (530) 694-2229
Heenan Lake (fresh water lake) Lake has turned on. Float-tubers throwing Prince Nymphs and Wooly Buggers last week are scoring more than a dozen cutthroat per day.
Ice House Reservoir (fresh water lake) Snow is melting rapidly and the lakes are rising in the Crystal Basin. The mackinaw and kokanee fishing has been slow at Ice House and Union Valley. Loon Lake is iced over. (530) 647-2306
Indian Creek Reservoir (fresh water lake) Fishing has been doing well with Buggers and Blood Midges mainly. Look for the evenings when the wind dies down for some good action on the surface with Blood Midges. Buggers in Black, Olive and or Brown have been working well. Float tubing gives you the best opportunity and the shallow end seems to fish the best this time of year. Look for Blood Midges! Tahoe Fly Fishing (530) 541-8208
Jackson Meadows Reservoir (fresh water lake) Road to the lake is open but no reports back yet.
Jenkinson Lake (fresh water lake) The lake is at full capacity and water temperature is between 60-64 degrees. Smallmouth bass as well as some largemouth bass are up on their nests and some are just moving up. If temps stays in the 70's this lake should see full spring time spawning . Look in the first ten feet around newly flooded brush around the lake for spawners. Rainbow trout are still around first launch ramp and narrows area in the first 15 feet of water column. Randy Williams Fishing Service (530) 957-3053
Little Truckee River (fresh water river) Flows are 335+ CFS. This is a great time of the year for the LT. The green drakes and PMDs should start any day. There are always midges about on the LT. Midge, Baetis, and Caddis Nymphs and Emergers are working great. There has been some terrestrial activity. Sight casting for eating fish can be a lot of fun! Still waiting on great PMD hatches. Tahoe Fly Fishing Outfitters (530-541-8208)
Loon Lake Reservoir (fresh water lake) Loon remains the last frozen lake in the Crystal Lake basin.
Mosquito Lakes (fresh water lake) Fly fishermen should try using adams, sparrow nymphs, woolly buggers, bead head prince nymphs and other various nymphs. Bait fishermen do well with dough baits, nighcrawlers and crickets. (209) 795-1686
North Fork Stanislaus (fresh water river) The North Fork of the Stanislaus will be planted this week. Lure fishermen should try Rapala's or a variety of spinners. Salmon eggs, nightcrawlers or Berkely baits also will work. Camping at the Sourgrass area will be limited to disperse camping only. Remember you will need a campfire permit. (209) 795-1686
Pinecrest (fresh water lake) Bait fishing at the Inlet has been hot using salmon eggs and power bait. Larger fish have been caught Panther. Martins and Rooster Tails have also been doing great from shore. Trolling has been very good Trolling depth has been 15’. To 25 feet Use blades with crawlers. Lures to try behind blades. Needlefish.Triple Teaser, Kastmaster and Wedding Rings tipped with a night crawler. Fly-fishermen have been using the Black Wooly Bugger. Using float tubes past buoys. Still the best fishing for planters. Another great week of fishing at Pinecrest. It just doesn’t get much better. (209) 965-3637
Prosser Reservoir (fresh water lake) Smallmouth bass are in the shallows getting ready to spawn. Swim baits, wooly buggers or Kastmasters will work. (530) 587-4844
Pyramid Lake (fresh water lake) Best fishing is when there is chop on the water and the Lohanton’s are close to shore where they can be reached with a shooting head from a ladder. Stripping a pyramid bugger with a tadpole or snail dropper. A strip and pause will yo-yo action on the snail initiates a strike. Good reports around Wino and Pelican where anglers are hooking the cutts. Use at least 2X tippet for these big fish. Maholo midges under an indicator are also producing. Tahoe Fly Fishing (530) 541-8208
Red Lake (fresh water lake) Float tube the upper end for best results. San Juan Worms hung under an indicator with a Copper John or Blood Midge Dropper will work well. Tahoe Fly Fishing (530) 541-8208
Silver Lake (fresh water lake) Blood Midges, Buggers and Leech Patterns are the diet. Look for fish rising to the Blood Midge on the back side of the lake. Tahoe Fly Fishing (530) 541-8208
Spicer Reservoir (fresh water lake) The road to Spicer is now open. Dock will be in and ready to go. Hobart Creek is not open to fishing until July 1. (209) 795-1686
Stampede Reservoir (fresh water lake) This is the best performer in the area. Rainbows, kokanee or macks all are biting but anglers will do best targeting a specific species. Rainbows are near the creek arms. Kokanee are 30 to 50 feet deep in front of the island and off the points of creek arms. Macks can be found near the dam. A 20 pounder was caught last week. Rick Kennedy, www.fishtightlines.com, 888-975-0990.
Tahoe (fresh water lake) Brown bite has been very good. Guide Mike Nielsen of Tahoe Topliners has been catching 6 to 10 per day from two to six pounds. Rainbows are mixed in. Best year in rainbows in a long time. Macks to six pounds are caught early in the morning trolling down to 60 feet. Mike Nielsen (530) 721-0593

West Fork, Carson River (fresh water river) East Carson is on the high side but it is settling. Fish the edges where the water is clearest. West is running fast. The bite in the meadow has been slow but there is better action near the bridge. Carson Valley Resort (877-694-2229) (530) 694-2229
White Pine Lake (fresh water lake) DFW will plant this week. Use Berkley Gulp Eggs, Galic Power Eggs, Garlic Power Bait, Power Bait, Salmon Peach Power Bait, Grape Nymph Power Bait, Berkley Mice Tails, Berkley Gulp Worms, salmon eggs, and nightcrawlers with a sliding sinker rig or with a cast-a-bubble rig with 30"-36" leader.
